Karkala, Oct 16: A young pair of lovers tried to commit suicide in a local lodge on Tuesday October 14, by consuming poison.
The two-some, identified as Taradevi(24) daughter of Chikkamallaiah from Ghattakeri in Tiptur of Tumkur district and Rajesh, son of Saratvalli Narayan Shetty from the same place, are the persons involved. They have been admitted into a private hospital here, in a critical condition.
The lovers reportedly left their native place after their parents objected to their relationship. they visited Dharmastala and several tourist spots and pilgrimage centres around here, before arriving at a lodge here in the afternoon. They consumed poison immediately thereafter, and the lodge staff admitted them into the hospital where efforts are being made to save them.
