M'lore: DVS Questions Congress Motive in Observing Silence Over Terrorist Activities

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Oct 15: "Even though the attention of the central government was repeatedly drawn in the Loksabha towards the coastal belt turning out to be the hide-out of the terrorists, the Congress chose to remain silent. The policemen have now busted the terrorist bases. Our suspicions have been proved true. The local Congress leaders who claim themselves to be national level leaders, have chosen to own silence. Why?," questioned state BJP president and MP D V Sadanand Gowda.

Speaking at a press conference organized in the city on Monday October 13, Gowda recalled, that the BJP had often stressed on the doubts that Karnataka coast bad become the breeding ground for terrorist activities, but the Congress leaders always looked at these charges with the political angle. "When some churches were attacked here, the Congress leaders made a beeline for the city from New Delhi and elsewhere in large numbers and held press conferences all through the day and night. These leaders seem to have suddenly opted to shut their mouths, after terrorists were caught from the coast. Where are the so called national leaders, Veerappa Moily, Oscar Fernandes and Janardan Poojary? Why have they sealed their lips now?," he questioned pointedly.

The people will teach a fitting lesson to these politicians, who play politics in the name of national security and integrity, Gowda predicted.

The Congress and the JD(S) have realised now, they would not be able to face the BJP on their own, and hence, have decided to join together for the bypoll. The very fact that the Congress stretched out its hand of friendship to the JD(S) immediately after Deshpande became the state president, gives clear indication of their fear of the BJP, DVS opined.

"Deshpande has been asked to drive a train which has derailed. It takes time to bring the train back on tracks. Siddaramaiah and his supporters are up in arms against Deshpande and Shivkumar. Let the congressmen set their house in order before commenting about the BJP, he suggested.

While the state government has undertaken repair of state highways, the union government's response towards repairing the national highways has been lukewarm.  If the national highways are not made motorable before November 15, BJP workers from the twin-districts will protest in a big way, he warned.

MLA N Yogish Bhat, state Yakshagana Academy president Kumble Sundar Rao, district BJP president Monappa Bhandary etc., were present at the press conference.
