Bantwal: Parish Sports Day Held at Modankap Church

Bantwal, Oct 14: The parish sports day was held at Infant Jesus church grounds, Modankap, near here, on Sunday October 12. It was organized by the ICYM parish unit and Fr Roque D’Sa, parish priest, inaugurated the event.
  
Twelve cricket teams from various wards competed for the Christmas Cup and the team from Infant Mary ward bagged the cup defeating St Anthony’s ward team in the final.



Eight women’s teams from various wards competed in the throwball tourney with the team from Lourdes ward securing the first place defeating the Thadambail team in the finals.
 
Nine women’s and men’s teams from different wards competed in the tug-of-war competitions which were won by the team from Lourdes ward and St Anthony’s ward, in the two categories, respectively.  Fr Uday Joseph Fernandes, Fr Sunil Kumar D’Souza, Reuben Frank, and Richard D’Souza, were present on the occasion.
 
Jonas Monteiro, welcomed the gathering.  ICYM parish unit vice-president Lloyd Veigas, proposed the vote of thanks.
