Mangalore: 'Amruthotsava-2008' to be held in City

Mangalore Oct 11: On the occasion of the 55th birthday of Matha Amruthanandamayi, the local unit of Amruthananandamayi Math will organise 'Amruthotsava-2008' at Matha Amruthanandamayi Math in the city on Sunday Oct 12.

A programme of accepting new memberships into the Amrutha family, will be held on the occasion.  Mahaganapati oblation will be performed at 5 am, followed by Dhanvantari oblation  at Brahmastana temple  from 6 am to 8.30 am. 'Guru Paduka puja' will be performed thereafter, at 9 am. Matha's birthday message is scheduled to be delivered at 9.30 am and Bhajans and Arati will continue to be held from 10 am onwards.

On the occasion, a function under the presidentship of city mayor Ganesh Hosabettu will be organised. MLA Yogish Bhat, City Corporation joint commissioner Ajit kumar Hegde and Syndicate Bank general manager K U Shanbhag will be the chief guests.

Apart from this, programmes like free diabitic detailed check-up camp, distribution of Amrutha scholarships to the poor students of Dakshina Kannada district who have passed the SSCL examination and  distribution of clothes to the needy, have also been lined up at the event.
