Mangalore, Oct 11: Gone are the days when a student had to wait in queue for hours to pay exam fees or dues owed to the library. Henceforth, students and staff of colleges need not waste their time in this manner. The ‘Smart Campus Card’, introduced by Idenizen does all this.

The card can be used as a debit card also as the company has a tie-up with Corporation Bank. Almost all necessary data related to a student can be stored in the smart card, says Girish Baliga, managing director and CEO, Idenizen.

The company, started three years ago, has been successful in establishing a strong base in south India. It aims at getting 2 lac customers in the current academic year. Right now, the company is concentrating on engineering colleges and business schools, adds Baliga.

He has been in the IT industry for 18 years and plans to position the smart card as a link between the corporate world and educational institutions. Lack of adequate infrastructure in the colleges has proved a hurdle to the effective implementation of this concept, he says.

The company has received US $ 2.25 million from Nea-Indous Ventures. The fund will be utilized to boost Idenizen’s countrywide expansion plans by setting up new branch offices, and service centres, as well as strengthening their product offerings, added Baliga.

This smart campus card was already there in our college.... in Nitte. I do remember. Its not something new. But most of the people are not aware of it. This smart card is just like your college id card and has a chip (sim like) on its back. You have computers with smart campus software installed in it in campus and a card reader, where on goes and s his card and gets all his information like attendance, marks, timetable, fee details. Newer features can be added easily as the capacity of chip is huge... but smart card is really a good and very handy. Great work by its designers.
