Udupi, Oct 10:
An awareness programme on eye donation was held at Manipal KMC Greens on World Sight Day, on Thursday October 9. The programme was organized in association with KMC eye and KMC community medicine department.

Symbolic sand art was the means of driving home this message.World Sight Day, which falls on the second Thursday of October, is a worldwide initiative to eliminate avoidable blindness and vision impairment in older people. 
 


Innumerable blind people across the world are waiting for eye donations to brighten their lives. When one donates one’s eyes, two visually impaired people are given the chance to see this wonderful world. 

Members of the Artists Forum, Srinath Manipal, Venky Palimar, Ravi Hirebettu, and . Meera, created this sculpture. Dr Ashwini, Dr Neha, Dr Rachana, and Dr Preeti , from the KMC eye department, imparted information on eye donation. About 30 people pledged their eyes on the occasion.
