Bangalore: Periyar's 130th birthday celebrated by DPI

Bangalore, Oct 9:The state unit of Dalit Panthers of India (DPI) celebrated Periyar's 130th birth anniversary at Ambedkar Bhavan in Malleshwaram here on Wednesday October 8.

Speaking on the occasion, leader of Dalit Panthers V Suresh said, that Periyar had dedicated his life and stuggled for the empowerment of the dalits and the  backward communities. "Periyar was our godfather," he stated , and paid floral tributes to Periyar's unveiled portrait.

President of DPI Bangalore M S Shekar prisided over the programme. S Ranjith Kumar, Shivakumar, M Tali, Govindaraj etc., participated and spoke about the life and achievements of Periyar. Venkatesh, Shivalingayya, Annamalai Padivelu, Mahendran, Sheena etc., were present.
