Bagalkot: "No Plans to Desert Congress," Asserts Siddu

Bagalkot, Oct 9: Ex-deputy chief minister Siddaramaiah, speaking to reporters on Wednesday October 8, asked people and the media not to assign undue importance to the meeting he had organized the previous day with some political leaders at Bangalore. "We had met together to have a casual discussion with my old friends," he clarified.

Siddaramaiah, who was in Bagalkot for inaugurating a private hospital there, asserted that he would not desert Congress. "P G R Sindhia has been a close friend of mine since long. Several ministers in the state BJP government have confidence in me. There is nothing wrong in meeting friends and holding discussions with them, on issues other than party and politics," Siddu felt.

The leader, who was hoping to bag the job of KPCC presidentship till the other day, sought to allay the theory that efforts are being made to bring together various factions and give birth to a united Janatadal party. "It is almost impossible to unite various splinter groups under a common agenda," he said, adding that he would not be putting any efforts in that direction.

"I will not be leaving the Congress. At the meeting, we discussed about the Ahinda movement," he clarified.
