Mangalore: City to Celebrate Dr Karant's Birth Anniversary

Mangalore, Oct 9: A function to celebrate the 107th birth anniversary of multi-talented Kannada writer Dr Shivram Karant will be held at Don Bosco Hall on Dr Shivram Karant Road in the city on Friday October 10.

The function is being held under the joint aegis of Dakshina Kannada district unit of Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP) and Kalkura Foundation. Past president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat Harikrishna Punaroor will preside. Udupi district KSP president Ambatanaya Mudradi will address the gathering. Corporation Bank general manager B R Bhat will distribute prizes to winners of competitions.

Kannada and culture department assistant director R S Dalvai and Saligrama Yakshagana Mela organizer Kishan Hegde will participate as chief guests.

Karnataka Bank chief general manager P Jayaram Bhat will felicitate Balkoor Krishna Yaji, an accomplished Yakshagana artiste from Badagu Thittu on this occasion, informed district KSP president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, in a release.
