Udupi, Oct 3: A contract worker named Shivakumar (26), a native of Hassan and resident of Kulshekar in Mangalore was electrocuted in the morning of Thursday October 2, when he was working on the 11KVA power line being laid for the Suzlon Company near Padubidri.

Shivkumar, employed by Padmashree Electricals Doopadakatte, was trying to replace a faulty insulator on the feeder line pertaining to Suzlon Company. Accidentally, he is said to have come in contact with the adjoining live 11 KVA line. Shivakumar, who became unconscious, could not separate himself from the livewire.

Other employees brought him down thereafter and took him to a private hospital in Padubidri. However, he had died before he could be treated, police sources said. The police have booked a case against the electrical contractor who had employed Shivakumar, for asking him to work without switching-off power from the feeder line.
