Ban Fanatics in Karnataka: Archbishop Moras

BANGALORE, Oct 3: Archbishop Bernard Moras of Bangalore has demanded a ban on all fanatic groups that attack churches and Christians in the name of conversions.

He made the demand at a press conference saying if at all there were conversions against the will of those getting converted, legal action should be taken against people who engineer such conversion.

Reiterating that the Church condemns any forcible conversion, he said he would be in the forefront to fight all forcible conversions in India.

He said the groups of fanatics attack churches and prayer halls with an intention to tear apart Indian’s secular fabric to meet their vested interests.

The archbishop also demanded an enquiry on attack on Christians by a retired judge of the Supreme court or by a sitting judge of the state high court. He said only high level investigations can bring out the truth.

The archbishop said differed with home minister Dr. Acharya, who said the attack on Church at Mariyannapalya was the result of differences between the two groups. It was an attempt to divert attention from the facts and trivialize the issue, he said.

I agree and receiprocate the comments of ArchBishop Bernard Moras. BJP's frontal organisation BAJARANGA DALA must be banned all over the country on the same analogy of other banned organisations. After BJP came to power in Karnataka, the soft target viz the christian community is targetted. It is high time the union govt takes necessary steps immediately. There are attacks on christians, priests, nuns and churches in Orissa on a daily basis. It is time that all christians are united to fight back when their faith and lives are attacked. Jai yesu.

We are proud to have Rt. Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras a great personality representing us in Bangalore. We really appreciate the way the Bishop is facing and handling this crucial issue where all ears are dumb. The people ruling and representing our Nation are aware of fact of equality but cannot implement and accept to practice it. In such situation it is hard to raise your voice against injustice. Now it is almost impossible task for us to prove that we are not for forcible conversions even though we are talking truth. But we should not give up our hope, the hope that unites us, the hope that we have in our faith. The  hope will lead us through all this hardships where we have to live and raise our beloved ones with the fact that we are a community to love the neighbor and to serve the society irrespective of cast and creed.

Thee is a legal system in this democratic country. It applies to all citizens for all wrong doings. Let us first popularize civic behaviour, then everything else will fall in place.

Thanks to Rt. Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore for setting an example how a courageous shepherd should be. Accordingly our church elders and leaders (Bishop and Priests) should be also very bold to counter and to accost any adversary to expose their crimes. However, there is no way to shy away under the prevailing circumstances. This audacious and intrepid act will serve as a deterrence notice to our persecutors in abundance.

I 100% AGREE WITH BISHOP BERNARD MORAS, FANATICS MUST BE BANNED IMMEDIATELY OTHERWISE IT WILL BE BLESSING IN DISGUISE FOR POLITICAL PARTIES TO USE THEIR POWER FOR SELFISH REASONS. DO NOT FORGET IN MANGALORE THESE GROUPS WERE THE 1ST ONE TO CLOSE DOWN SHOPS DURING BANDHS WHICH REALLY BROUGHT MANY PEOPLE LOSS OF BUSINESS & CITIZENS TO LOSE THEIR DAILY BREAD. FOR GOD SAKE EDUCATED CITIZENS DO NOT VOTE FOR THOSE PARTIES WHO USE THESE GROUPS TO MAKE BANDH AND PROMOTE THEIR STRIKES AS A PROPAGANDA INSTEAD OF DEVELOPING BUSINESS IN MANGALORE. WHAT IS HAPPENING IN MANGALORE & ORISSA IS SHAME IN THIS 21ST CENTURY MORE PEOPLE EVEN OPPOSE KILLING OF ANIMALS....

I fully agree with the demand made by Bishop Moras. Forgetting all that happened just because things are cooled down will only encourage those who have done it. We must ensure that such things does not repeat again. Our peaceful protest must be on until then.

I clearly agree with Mr. Ashton Rebello's comments, let us kick out New Life which is the root cause for the incidents which happend in past days. No one has the right to hurt other religion & thier GODS & sentiments. We Christians should take up this job of kicking out New Life which even spoiling Roman Catholics.

I fully support Ashton's views. Activities of New Life group are the root cause of this recent unrest in Mangalore. To attract a few vulnerable lot and to gain undue importance/power in their so called group they go to any extent. Result is ....we peace loving Roman Catholics paid the price for this stupidity. Now they published a book on Hindu Gods... But some years back they wrote a book on Mother Mary....were we sleeping then...? Let us all Roman Catholics continue to be friendly with our Hindu brothers/Sisters.

Our beloved dear Bishop Bernard Moras, kindly don't act on behalf of Congress, Congress is here only to gain votes, they will not protect any community in India. What we see today is the result of Congress party's 60 years long ruling of India. So please try to understand the logic behind the happenings. We know you have been hurt, at the same we hurt too due to the recent developements. I kindly request you, not to over react further since the issue has already cooled down.
