Canada: Indian Christians Plan Protest Against Church Attacks in Mangalore

Media Release

Mississauga, Sep 17: Saddened by the blatant violation of human rights and constitutional right to practice our religion in Mangalore, Orissa and other parts of India, the Indian Christian community of Canada are joining hands to protest against these atrocities.

Community members want to bring to the notice of the world and human right commissions and authorities in Canada to use their diplomatic channels about the total collapse of law and order in Mangalore & other parts of India, and the failure of the state to protect the lives of the clergy and the minority community.

These unfortunate events, has sown the seeds of hatred to vitiate the atmosphere of the goodwill of the communities.

The Protest will be held in Mississauga at:
VENUE:  CITY HALL, SQUARE ONE
300 City Centre Drive, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada L5B 3C1
DATE:     SEPTEMBER 20TH 2008
TIME:     9:30 am – 11 am

I deplore the actions by the Hindu religious fanatics who incited the actions without realsing that the leaflets distributed (if true) were by a small group called New Faith who are in no way connected to Catholics.

Siva (USA) also should realise that attacking all Christians group for the lapse of one small group (who do not represent all christians) is even worse. Should all Hindus be held responsible for action of the few illiterate or misinformed hindus !! L

et us not talk here of religion but remain united as Indians and before attacking any religion or its followers, the leaders of the group must get the facts clear. I would surely condemn if a Christian attacks hindu group for the mistake of one single person or group.

Dear Siva USA. I could see your comment at many places "insulted Hindu Gods". Let me ask you How? By distroying proerty or place of worhship that the group was not responsible fo such publication or the insult? From the outlook you appear to be matured and educated since you have reached usa but sadly your mind is still immatured. For your information please note, you still to know that, there are civilized ways to fight the injusties or insult in this so called civilized world. I think, your religion also say the same, if you are not aware please go back and learn your religion and then comment. Are you thinking that you are safe in usa if people and the officers in power where you live behave in the same maner? Be civilised by broadening your views. You will not gain anything by vanadlism and by burtual cowardly acts but pain. May be you like it but not all the people in this world are like you. Do you ever know that. Thanks for allowing me to make you litle wiser. Only if you wish, you will learn a lot and some immportant facts of life only. Thanks to Daiji World for your Good work and please keep us updated.

Let them follow it not GOONDARAJ..

That doesnt mean that they start hitting the Catholics/Christians and burning their churches. What right do they have to harm another person just because of their faith and beliefs. Also, please know your facts well....by just sitting in the US, that doesnt mean you can pass snide remarks like this!

But be a true Christian. Don't hide the facts even if they are unconfortable - Make sure to let the world also know that the trouble was fomented by the debased profane literature that insulted Hindu Gods.

It is a welcome move from our comrades in canada. The law of the jungle practiced by the Administration should be made known to each and every nook and corner of the world. The hooligans, goons and fundamentalists should be banned and their evil doings should be unearthed. It is a saddening sight to see that, the women and children are canned and beaten up by police. It is high time that, they realize they too have women folks and children.International bodies should be awakened by mass protest all over the world and see that our PM and CM take some stern action immediately to support our christian brothern.

Let the Administration learn to behave in a civilized way. Let guilty be punished, justice prevail and Let us learn to live and love each other like brothers and sisters. Once again good work my dear friends. Keep up the spirit and thank you very much. The pressure should be built by international bodies and communicated to our President and PM, in order that justice is prevailed and the miscreants are brought behind bars and punished for their crimes. It is a saddening sight to see that, the women and children are canned and beaten up by police. It is high time that, they realize they too have women folks and children.

I request organisers of this protest meetings to send the protest memorandum to the Indian Ambassador, President of India, Prime Minister, State governor, Chief Minister , International Human Rights/Amnesty International and the respective MP's, MLA's and give proper information to the HOST government. Then only these protests will have an effect.

It's good a move. All Mangaloreans living in Canada (be it be North, South, East or West) are with you to join this protest against these atrocities. We have seen numerous violence in India and we should put an end to it. There is no law and order in the country as authorities itself involved in crimes. Neither concerned authorities have taken stern action India is supposed to be secular country as per constitution but now proves something else. There is no religious freedom : Most of all, church vandalism is not tolerated, Holy cross is desecrated, Blessed Sacrament is thrown on the ground, Christians are beaten, ill-treated which should be condemned. All these years we had international terrorism issue, but now we have Indian Terrorist Groups (hardliners) which takes law in their hands. Request human rights commissions to take diplomatic channels to make sure such things don’t repeat once again.
