As clashes continued in Orissa, Meghalaya Christians have demanded banning of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal blaming them of 'terrorising' the people of the community.

The demand was voiced at a peace rally at Jowai on Sunday where thousands of Christians, including members of prominent organizations, political leaders and government servants participated.

The meeting resolved to send a six-point memorandum to the President, demanding adequate steps to stop the violence, allow freedom of relegion and relief to the victims.

Various leaders who spoke at the rally asked the Centre to ban the VHP and Bajrang Dal, blamimg them for the 'continued carnage' in Orissa.

Later, the protesters took out a procession with black flags, shouting slogans for peace and freedom of relegion.

Chairman of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission Willy Suchiang chaired the meeting while church leaders and political leaders cutting across party lines attended the rally.

Every body wants ban on VHP,BD and whatever organization who fight for Indian soverighnity. No problem if somebody burn Indian flag at Kashmir, no problem if some body carry out blasts in crowded places, no problem somebody do the smuggling of ammunitions and drugs to deteriorate Indian society. Elected government will not bother for this because they run the government on the support of these many.If any body move against this sustaining until saturation of the patience that organization should be banned.
