Puttur: Couple Deceives Taxi Driver by Throwing Chilly Powder, Arrested

Puttur, Sep 1: A young man and a woman, who had hired a taxi from Mysore to Mangalore, physically assaulted the taxi driver when he demanded money for refuelling the taxi near here. The couple was later arrested by the police.

It is learnt that Shahil from Kundapur along with his lover had hired an Indigo car from Mysore to Mangalore. When the car reached Puttur past midnight on Saturday August 30, the driver asked the couple for money to refuel the car. Shahil, with assistance of his companion, allegedly strangulated him, threw chilly powder into his eyes and stabbed before disappearing from the scene.

The injured driver named Madhusudan from Chandagalu in Mysore, complained to the local police station. The lovers in the meantime, hid themselves in a school on the by-pass road. The police conducted search operations during the night itself and succeeded in nabbing them before dawn.
