Bangalore, Aug 31: Employees of various milk unions from the state, functioning under Karnataka Milk Federation(KMF) got temporary relief on Friday August 29, when the state High Court stayed operation of their retirement orders upon attaining the age of superannuation at 58.

The staff from various milk unions spread across the state had approached the High Court, asking as to why the benefit of the extended retirement age of 60 years is not being made applicable to them. They said, that the government employees working under various departments have been given the benefit of this extended retirement age, without bringing any ammendments to the service rules.

Judge of the High Court Justice Ajit Gunjal has stayed the operation of the retirement orders of these employees, who were to asked to demit office on August 31, for four weeks. The government through an order issued on Augut 13, had asked the chief secretaries, various corporations and boards to take steps to increase the retirement age of employees working under them.

Assistant manager of Tumkur Milk Union M S Patil and others complained to the court, that this benefit has not been extended to the co-operation and animal husbandry departments. They cited, that they are getting pay scales, service seniority etc., on par with the government employees.

Taking cognizance of their plea that the government has discrimated against them on this issue, the court stayed operation of their retirement orders and adourned the hearing.
