Udupi: Ex-councillor Shanti D Shenoy Passes Away

Udupi, Aug 30: Ex-councillor of the local municipality, social worker and resident of Kunjibettu here, Shanti D Shenoy (78) passed away at Manipal Hospital on Friday August 29 after a brief illness.

Shanti Shenoy, who was a LIC agent, was also a popular social worker. After getting elected to the local body from Congress party in the year 1972, she had strived actively to mitigate problems the city was facing. Shenoy was an active member of the women's wing of Gowda Saraswath Brahma Samaj and was involved with organizing Bhajan groups. She is survived by two sons.

Manipal Academy of General Education registrar K K Pai, obstetrician Dr Padma Rao, MGM College principal Jayaprakash Mavinakuli etc., paid last respects to the departed soul. State home minister Dr V S Acharya, MLA K Raghupati Bhat etc., have expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.

    Its very sad to hear about this news. She was a very good person and helping nature. I know her since my childhood and was my neighbour. May Almighty give patience to her sons Ravi and Varada.
