Udupi, Aug 29: A huge truck carrying load-full of equipments of the coal-based Nagarjuna Thermal Power Plant blocked the road that passes by the side of the plant site near Padubidri on Thursday August 28.

The truck which came out of the plant site blocked the road all of a sudden and could not move. Verbal clashes ensued between MP Manorama Madhwaraj, Anti-Nagarjuna Action Committee president Sujay Kumar Shetty and the staff of Nagarjuna Plant, where road levelling work was also in progress. The MP along with other activists and drivers of buses, cars and other vehicles which were stranded on the spot undertook strong protest. Finally, Nagarjuna Plant personnel relented and moved the truck aside by employing a JCB.

As the traffic on the road got severely affected for around two hours, many buses cut short their trips. Students and the public alike had to tread to their destinations on foot thereafter.
