Bantwal: D V Sadanand Gowda Asks Erring Company to Pay Compensation

Bantwal, Aug 28: MP and BJP state unit president D V Sadanand Gowda on Wednesday August 27, visted Shambhoor AMR Project site that suffered heavy losses after flood waters from river Netravati entered its plant and damaged its dam and machineries.

He also received public petitions at a meeting held later and asked the company to immediately arrange payment of compensation to those in whose lands the transmission towers have been put up, people whose houses have been damaged due to detonations etc., He also asked the tahsildar to inspect houses and other properties that suffered losses because of the explosions at the company site and assess the damages within 30 days. The company will be liable to make good the losses so assessed, he said.

When the local people asked the company about the promise it had made to provide jobs to them, the company officials said that they will consider providing jobs based on their educational qualifications.

The people also urged the company to consider providing drinking water supply to shambhoor, Narikombu, Baltila and other nearby villages, once the project becomes operational.

Gowda also asked the engineer to take up the much-delayed the road work on the seven kilometre stretch in Sannakukku in Panemangalore under the Grama Sadak scheme, immediately after the rainy season comes to a close.

Ex-MLA K Padmanabh Kottary, gram panchayat president A Anand, Bantwal tahssildar C N Manjunath, revenue inspector Sadhu, village accountant A P Bhat, project chief engineer Sankappa Shetty and others were present.
