Puttur: Youth Congress to Block Movement of Ore Trucks

Puttur, Aug 28: Dakshina Kannada district youth Congress president Bondala Jagannath Shetty said that the activists of the unit will be protesting against the failure of the district administration in regulating the movement of the ore-laden trucks that have heaped untold miseries on the citizens of the district, by blocking movement of these trucks on Saturday August 30 at Uppinangady.

In a press statement, he solicited wholehearted support of political outfits and organizations for this proposed protest programme undertaken in public interest. He also asked Mangalore MP D V Sadanand Gowda and Puttur MLA Mallika Prasad to extend their support to the agitation.

The union government has sanctioned a grant of Rs 12.37 crore for the repair of the national highway, tender for which has also been finalised. Because of the unrestrained movement of the iron ore-laden trucks, the repairs and maintenance of the highways has become impossible, he rued.
