While Walter Nandalike of Daijiworld. com narrated his own success story, Dr Zita Lobo  gave a detailed presentation on topic related to Mangaloreans living in the Gulf countries.

Both the presentations were eye openers to the audience that attended the same.

Walter presented his success story of daijiworld.com. He narrated how a computer illiterate made the difference in the lives of coastal people who live around the world. By own initiative he became computer savvy and today his brainchild daijiworld.com is a household name among thousands and thousands of Mangaloreans, and people of west coast region worldwide.

In hour-long interaction with the IIPP members he answered various queries regarding Daijiworld.

Dr Zita Lobo gave her presentation on The Dynamics of Adaptation of Expatriates in the Gulf with Special Reference to Mangaloreans.

With the help of a ppt she explained the various causes for the migration and gave a detailed, well-researched data on the estimated Indians in the Gulf countries which included Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Many factors that led to their migration were discussed and the major attractions that pulled the people to the gulf countries were discussed.

A few practical areas of adjustment were brought up for an animated discussion, for eg, the lack of security at the job front as well as the artificial environment that the children are brought up in.

Dr Zita was able to give the practical problems of dealing with day-to-day living in the gulf, the attitude of the local people and the need to cope with them with diplomacy and courtesy.  She also gave a progressive picture of the Mangaloreans settled abroad and the steady increase and progress of the NRIs.

This being the preliminary presentation, Dr Zita would like to work on her project in greater detail to be able to give the IIPP a more complete picture.
