Mangalore: North Block Congress Stages Protest against BJP

Mangalore, Aug 27: The North Block Congress Committee held a silent march here on Wednesday August 27 by condemning City Corporation's maladministration and 'Operation Kamala' adopted by the State government.

K Suresh Ballal, president, North Block Congress submitted a memorandum to the district commissioner arriving on a march which started at Congress office.

In memorandum Congress has demanded the chief minister not to implement self announced property tax in Mangalore City Corporation limits and to withdraw privatization of water supply system and billing.

It also urged the government to repair roads in the city where 90 per cent of the roads have been deteriorated and to provide rice for Rs 2 per kg as per the announcement made in budget.

Congress said that the government has created such an environment where people except from saffron brigade have no freedom of speech. It is inevitable to conduct a movement as such to protect democratic rights of people in this atmosphere.
