Udupi: Trucks Collide on National Highway; 3 Injured

Udupi, Aug 27: Three persons were critically injured in a head-on collision of cargo trucks on national highway (NH) 17, at Kallapu, near Katpady, on Tuesday, August 26.

A truck laden with stationery from Hubli was traveling towards Mangalore, and collided with a truck laden with urea plying in the opposite direction. The two collided at Kallapu, injuring three. Two of the injured have been identified as Babujan, and Manju, while the name of the third person is still  unknown.

The driver of the stationery laden truck was in a hurry to catch up with a fellow driver who was a little ahead and tried to overtake causing the ghastly accident. The impact left one truck  overturned beside the highway. Kaup police have registered a case in this regard.
