Udupi, Aug 24: Public prosecutor J I kittur filed his objections to the bail applications moved in the district special court by arrested accused and some of the absconding offenders, relating to the assault on bus employees by a gang of miscreants at Ucchila on Saturday, August 9. Judge K N Phaneendra has reserved his judgement for Monday, August 25.

Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, advocate representing the accused, argued in favour of granting bail to the accused persons. He said, that those who are not yet arrested, were not present at the spot when the incident occured. The prosecution is including names to the charge sheets in stages, which is improper. Hence, bail should be granted to those named in the charge sheet, he insisted.

The public prosecutor argued, that arresting of all the accused has become necessary to properly investigate the case and recover the money they robbed from the spot.

The bail applications have been moved on behalf of the arrrested accused Mohammed Shariff, Altaf, Mohammed Hanif, Rajab, Ashraf and Fayaz and absconding accused Mansoor, Mohammed Hussain, Sarfraz, Abdul Razack and Mohammed.
