Mangalore: Protect Nethravati River - Niren Jain

Mangalore, Aug 23: Niren Jain, founder of the Kudremukh Wildlife Foundation (KMF) has urged the public to conserve Nethravatii river, which is facing threat by various projects in the district.

'Nethravati river is the only main source of drinking water in the district. It is our duty to protect the source of water,' he opined. He was speaking after inaugurating an environment project 'Go Green-2008' organized by an NGO, Mangalore Ladies Circle at the Horticulture Department premises here on Friday August 22.

He also urged citizens to adopt values in life as they are more important than the country's economy. 'Everybody has been showing interest to plant saplings, but later very few take care of them. This should not happen,' he added.

Shanthi Kiran, chairperson and Pramod Pinto, director of circle were present.
