Mangalore, Aug 23: The rains which relentlessly soaked the coastal belt of the State for several days at a stretch, has done a sudden vanishing act. The twin districts have not received any rains for more than three days, except for some sporadic drizzles.

Most of the places in the coastal region remained dry. Some interior places like Channapatna and Kanakapura received two centimetrs of rain each. Mangalore airport, Sullia, Madikeri, Subrahmanya etc., registered one centimetre of rain during the last 24 hours.

The meteorological department has predicted a fair amount of rain in the ensuing two days.
