Margao, Aug 13: Kana-Banaulim witnessed ruckus on Tuesday August 12   as panchayat allegedly tried to give permission to two Mega projects to commission the work, despite the opposition from locals.

According to sources when people came to know about this step taken by the panchayat, they marched towards it and demanded that the permission should be revoked immediately. Finally the panchayat had to bow before the pressure put in by locals.

People had earlier taken a resolution that permission must be denied by the panchayat to these projects. Despite this, the formalities were resumed, which lead people to hit the roads.

When some locals demanded that the receipt book to be shown to them, the panchayat officer denied by saying that they cannot do so, with apprehension that they would be caught red-handed. But people succeeded in having a look at the book and officers were caught red-handed.
