Puttur: Lodge Raided, Two Arrested - Tiger Pelts Recovered

Puttur, Aug 13: During a raid on a lodge located in front of the local KSRTC bus stand on Tuesday August 12, Puttur assistant superintendent of police Abhishek Goel and staff arrested two persons allegedly trying to sell tiger pelts and recovered two tiger pelts from them.

The value of the seized pelts is estimated to be around Rs 2 lac. The arrested have been identified as Usman and Rajshekhar from Mundoor village. They reportedly bought the pelts from a person named Majeed. They were awaiting the intending buyers for the pelts packed in gunny bags, the police claimed.

A case has been booked in this connection and the police are on the look out for Majeed. The accused were staying here since a day and the local people got information that they were trying to sell some contraband objects and passed on information to the police.
