Mangalore, Aug 10: Despite the imposition of section 144 in front of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) office, DYFI and CPI (M) leaders have intimated of their intention to stage a protest there on Monday, August 11.

The protest is to condemn the police caning  on DYFI and CPI (M) activists on  Monday, August 4. Section 144 will be in effect till August 25 and as per the law, more than four people can’t gather together where the section has been imposed.

Muneer Katipalla, DYFI district president said that the district administration had curbed the right to protest on the direction of the Sangh Parivar and the BJP. But there are no changes in the plans of the DYFI, he added. Katipalla also accused the administration of turning a blind eye to BJP and Sangh Parivar activists who have in the past violated section 144.
