M'lore: Yenepoya College Aims to Create Awareness on Benefits of Breast Feeding

Mangalore, Aug 8: In the modern era, breast milk has been scientifically proven to contain all nutrients and mother’s milk has no substitute, said Prof Sayyed Akhil Ahmed, vice-chancellorYenepoya University on Thursday, August 7.

He was giving the presidential address at the continuing education programme on breast feeding which organized by Yenepoya College, Deralakatte, at the college auditorium. Mankind has been God's superior creation, and this world would be incomplete without mothers, said Prof Ahmed.

It's just a misconception that breast feeding spoils beauty and this should be cleared by awareness on the health benefits of breast milk, he added.

Dr P N Krishnamurthy, after inaugurating the programme, said that breast feeding plays a key role in the growth of human beings. The awareness on breast feeding should be created among new mothers to convince them of its health benefits.

Dr R S Suresh, principal, Yenepoya Medical College, Y Farhad, chief executive officer of the college, Dr Akthar Hussain, secretary, Islamic Education Society, as well as resource persons Prof Bharati Baliga, and Prof Banapurmat, were present on the dais.

Dr Vijayadev L, organizing secretary, welcomed while Shamshad Khan proposed the vote of thanks.
