Udupi: District VHP, Bajrang Dal to Garner Support for Amarnath Issue

Udupi, Aug 7: The district unit of the Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) and the Bajrang Dal, will stage a protest here on Saturday August 9, urging the union government to hand over the possession of controversial shrine land to the Amarnath Shrine Board, and to allow Hindus to lead peaceful lives in Jammu and Kashmir.

A memorandum will be presented to MP Manorama Madhwaraj at her residence in Malpe, near here at 5.00 pm on the same day, said Raghavendra Acharya, honorary president, district VHP, at a press conference on Thursday, August 7.

VHP and Bajrang Dal activists will stage a road blockade at Kinnimulky, on the Mangalore – Udupi National Highway 17 at 10.00 am on Wednesday, August 13. They have also condemned the jihadi activities that are being carried out against Amarnath pilgrims and police caning of media persons at the insistence of the government, he added.

Y N Ramachandra Rao, district president, VHP, and Divakar Bhandary, president, district Bajrang Dal, were present at the press conference.
