Bangalore: Dark Days here Again for State Citizens

Bangalore, Aug 7: The state government has decided to continue with load-shedding all over the state, as rainfall in catchment areas of the hydel power generation reservoirs has not been satisfactory. The load-shedding will affect Bangalore city, all cities and towns and rural areas.

Officials said that the state is facing a shortfall of 20 million units of power daily. As the state needs to be careful in utilizing the water stored at Linganamakki, Supa and Mani reservoirs, load-shedding is the only option available, they said.

Load-shedding will be enforced for two hours every day for all types of consumers including industrial, commercial and households in the city. Other towns will face load-shedding for six hours every day. Rural areas will be the worst hit, as they will get power for only eleven hours every day. "Even though Chattisgarh government is ready to provide some power, we are unable to utilize it, as they charge Rs 8 per unit," the officials said. If the rain continues to play spoilsport, the coming days will be bleaker, they said.
