Mangalore, Aug 7: MP D V Sadanand Gowda asked the people to keep middlemen at bay while availing of benefits from government schemes. He also asked the people to bring to the notice of the officials concerned, if any wrong beneficiaries are selected under any of the schemes, so that they can correct the mistakes.

He also exhorted the officials to give wide publicity to various central and state government schemes that aim at benefiting the minority. "I find that the BJP is branded as anti-minority. But the present state government has earmarked Rs 190 crore for the benefit of minorities, he pointed out. BJP solely believes in all-round development and nothing else," he said. Gowda also urged the minorities to sink minor differences between themselves and work harmoniously.

Former chairman of Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation Anwar Manippady informed that the ministry concerned has identified 338 towns for its cluster schemes.  National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation has drawn plans for the development of 40 clusters in the state including Mangalore. The corporation will be holding awareness programmes, grant term loans and micro loans provide skills training and implement women development schemes in these clusters, he said.
