Udupi, Aug 6: Veteran freedom fighter of undivided Dakshina Kannada district, Shambu Shetty,was felicitated on Tuesday August 5, by Prasanna Kumar, chief executive officer, zilla panchayat, and Ravindra Naik, proprietor, Hanuman Transports at a farewell function organized before he left to New Delhi.
Shetty and his wife are flying to New Delhi, to attend the tea party with President Pratibha Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan on the eve of Independence Day.
Raghupaty Bhat, MLA, presented the air ticket to Shetty, during the function. The couple will leave for New Delhi from Bajpe International Airport by a Jet Airways flight with a stop-over at Mumbai, on Wednesday August 6.
Office-bearers of various social welfare and voluntary organizations as well as zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat members extended best wishes to the couple.
