Jaipur: Muslim man slapped, forced to say Jai Shri Ram, video viral

Jaipur, Feb 7 (PTI): A video purportedly showing a teenager slapping a 45-year-old Muslim man and forcing him to say "Jai Shri Ram" in Sirohi district went viral, prompting a protest from the community.

The incident sent police into a tizzy. A video of the act, recorded and circulated by the accused, Vinay Meena (18), is doing the rounds on the Internet.

In the three-minute clip, Meena is seen slapping Mohammad Salim 25 times and forcing him to say "Jai Shri Ram", to which the victim responded: "Parvardigaar sabse bada hai (God is almighty)." Members of the Muslim community protested the incident and filed a complaint at the Abu Road City police station against Meena.

"An FIR was registered yesterday based on a complaint we received from members of the Muslim community," SP Sirohi Om Prakash said. Meena has been nabbed for "voluntarily causing hurt, promoting enmity, hurting religious sentiments, breaking peace", he said.

    I am in Saudi Arabia since 1990. No one Mutawa interfered in others religion. If you don't know anything please don't finger to any one.

    Dear Jasun, I am in KSA since 1985 and still here. As a Hindu I never subject to any kind humiliation (I am talking about myself) and even my wife as well. My kids are born and bought up here and whenever we go back to India on vacation, after 2-3 weeks, my kids usually nag me to cancel vacation and go back to Saudi. During weekend, here we go out for picnic normally after 8pm and return home around 4am and till now I never had any bad experience and feel very much safe here (no worry, no planning to stay here for life long as now they started taxes on most of things :::))). If you don't know the reality, pls refrain from commenting or try to be here in Riyadh (good luck) to enjoy the real taste of life.
    BTW at the end I am Indian and love my country whatever it will be.

    I was lived there from 1996 till 2003. We were playing Cricket match there in the noon time. Muttawwa came in police Jeep & he took all our bat & wicket etc.
    and also asked us to do so. This is my own expierene. Things might have changed now or it may not happen every time.

    @Ahmed k.c. mangalore,best is as a punishment to his attacking the person and making him to say Jai Sri Ram,make him tell Allah ho Akbar.when he refuses to say do as he did to the victim,chati till he says.Otherwise these youngsters dont realize why and what they do .This remembers me the time during Tippu,people had to suffer from his soldeirs to convert people as muslims.History repeats.or changes its face.
