Udupi, Aug 3: Prabhakar Neermarga has bagged the Vishukumar award, instituted by Yuvavahini central committee Mangalore, a premier literary organization engaged in promoting a distinct Tulu Nadu culture across the undivided Dakshina Kannada district.

The award was conferred on Prabhakar Neermarga, during the function held at Town Hall, by Bhuvanabhirama Udupa Kinnigoli, editor of Yugapurusha monthly bulletin, on Sunday August 3 evening.



Prabhakar who bagged this award for his book ‘Mangalura Kranthi’ while acknowledging the honour, said that the award would inspire him to pen more literary works based on Vishu culture practiced all over Tulu Nadu.  Vishu award would be a significant literary award after Kota Shivaram Karant award wherein Vishu had depicted the life in Tulu Nadu in his times, which Prabhakar would also pursue, he exhorted. 

Meanwhile, he assured that he would support the up and coming writers, by publishing their books from the sale proceeds of his own book ‘Mangalura Kranti’. 

Dr Gananat Yekkar, lecturer released ‘Irla Pagel’ Tulu poetry authored by litterateur K H Bangera, at the same occasion. 

Litterateur Janaki Bramavar was the chief guest present at the occasion. 

Yuvavahini central committee president Raviraj Kumar welcomed the gathering.  Secretary Dhiraj Shanti and Vishu award conferring convener Narendra Kerekadu compered the programme.
