PTI

MUMBAI, Aug 1: On the heels of private airlines increasing the fares, national air carrier Air India on Friday hiked the economy and business class rates by 10 per cent for its domestic flights.

"We have hiked the fares by 10 per cent across-the-board for our domestic flights," an Air India spokperson said.

Private air carriers Kingfisher Airlines, Deccan and Jet Airways yesterday raised their fares.

While Kingfisher and Deccan have increased the fares by 10 per cent across-the-board, Jet Airways effected a 10 per cent hike in its economy class and five per cent in business class.

Budget airlines IndiGo, SpiceJet, GoAir and Jetlite, however, have not yet increased their fares.

This is the third time that the airlines have increased their fares since May.
