Karkala: Police Recover Maoist Handbills

The Hindu

Karkala, Jul 28: The police recovered a bundle of about 30 handbills that contained Maoist literature at the bus-stand in Karkala of Udupi district on Sunday.

Inspector General of Police (Western Range) A.M. Prasad told The Hindu that the bundle of handbills was recovered near a shop at the bus-stand. The shop keeper had informed the police about the bundle. The handbills contained Maoist literature and relate to the anniversary of naxal leader Charu Mazumdar. The handbills recovered at Kasrkala were similar to those recovered at Hassan a few days ago. Prasad said “Routine combing is going on in the area as part of a general alert because of Charu Mazumdar’s anniversary on July 28.”
