Udupi: Padmapriya Case - Atul's Judicial Custody Extended

Udupi, Jul 24: The judicial custody of Atul Rao, accused in the case relating to the unnatural death of Udupi MLA's wife Padmapriya, which was to expire on Wednesday July 23 was extended upto July 30 by the chief judicial magistrate.

Atul was not present when the case was taken up on Wednesday. The Mangalore jail superintendent stated that Atul could not be produced in the court as he was undergoing treatment in a Mangalore hospital.

Atul's counsel Steven Lewis and special public prosecutor G V Naik were present when the judge announced this decision. In the meanwhile, a separate application moved in the court for the restoration of the Innova vehicle owned by Atul that was seized by the police after they found that it was used to carry Padmapriya to Kumta, was posted for July 30 for filing of objections if any.
