Mangalore, Jul 18: Mangalore Urban Development Authority ex-chairman and New Mangalore Port Trust trustee Tejomaya informed at a press conference held here on Thursday July 17, that Central Administrative Reforms Commission chairman M Veerappa Moily has assured that the much-awaited day train between Mangalore and Bangalore will be operational in September this year.

He added that Moily is in constant contact with railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on this issue. As landlides in the ghat sections are common during the monsoon, the train will be pressed into service as soon the monsoon season comes to a close, he explained.

He also welcomed the beginning of Mangalore-Kuwait direct flight and thanked Veerappa Moily, union labour minister Oscar Fernandes and others for being instrumental for this historical event. Long cherished dream of the the people from the west coast has been fulfilled with this achievement, he said.

Pravin Pinto and Anup D'Souza were present at the press conference.

Its nothing but the election gimmick from the congress people. During the election Mr Moily told in a press conference that Shatabdi express will ply over this route. And to be honest the need of the hour is the Shatabdi and not any shuttle train that will spoil the entire day in journey. Before starting a new train let these people have a relook at the existing train and decide what should be the need of the hour for the people of mangalore and bangalore

It was nice to hear finally we are going to have a train service from Bangalore to Mangalore. Last time I travelled by bus in the same sector and it was a horrifying experience. My sincere thanks for all those who are responsible for completing the project.

I don't know who this Tejomaya is. But, from the news article I can very well make out that he is a congress man trying to get a free mileage.
