Udupi: Moodbelle Church Gets New Bell after Eight Months

Udupi, Jul 15: The inauguration of the new Bell of St Lawrence church, Moodbelle near here was held recently. It was blessed and offered to the Church by former parish priest Fr Valerian D'Souza. It was time for celebration for the parishioners who were longing for the installation of new bell for 8 months since the earlier bell had caved in.

The dream was realized owing to the efforts of Fr Valerian who succeeded to get the bell weighing 400 kgs from Germany at a total cost of Rs 6 lac which was donated by the parishioners. Though Fr Valerian dreamt of blessing and inaugurating the bell before his transfer, it was realized only two weeks after he was transferred.

After the Holy Eucharist the new bell was blessed and inaugurated in the presence of the parish priest Fr Joswey Fernandes, Fr Paul Sequeira, principal, Fr Arun Mendonca, teacher, guest priests Fr Deepak, Fr Baptist, Fr Vijay,  Henry Fernandes, vice-president the parish pastoral council and Meera Lobo, secretary, . After the inauguration the new bell was chimed by Fr Valerian and Fr Joswey, Fr Paul Sequeira, Fr Arun Mendonca, Henry Fernandes and Meera Lobo.
 
Fr Valerian thanked all the donors for thei interest and sacrifices towards the welfare of their church.
