Mangalore, Jul 14: People beat up Devaraj alias Raj alias Shankarappa from Katpadi on Sunday July 13, when they came to know that his engagement with a girl from Balepuni would have resulted in his fourth marriage. They then handed him over to the Konaje police.
It is learnt, that he has already cheated two girls, one each from Suratkal and a place in Kerala before tying nuptial knots with Bharati from Hoohakuvakallu near here.
The police, it is gathered, instead of booking him under sections relating to polygamy, have charged him with disturbing peace. His third wife Bharati (27) has registered a case of abuse and posing life threat, against him.
