M'lore: Ananthakrishna Becomes Longest Serving Chairman of Karnataka Bank

Mangalore, Jul 12: Anathakrishna, who will be stepping into the ninth year of his stint on Sunday July 13, 2008 as the chairman and chief executive officer of Karnataka Bank Ltd having it's head office in the city, has created a record of sorts by being the longest serving chairman of the bank. The earlier record standing in the name of ex chairman of Karnataka Bank K Sooryanarayan Adiga stands surpassed now.

Ananthakrishna has already completed two terms of three years each in this post and is in his third term now.a The bank has undergone a magical transformation with him at its helm, during these eight years. The total business of the bank reached Rs 27,858 crores from a mere Rs 7,625 crores eight years ago, and net profit saw a six fold increae from Rs 40.,71 crores to Rs 242.74 crores. On the computerisation front, all the branches of the bank have been brought under the core banking solutions.
