Udupi: Dr V S Acharya Celebrates 70th Birthday at Sri Krishna Balaniketan

Udupi, Jul 7: State home minister and district-in-charge minister Dr V S Acharya, celebrated his 70th birth day on Sunday July 6 afternoon, at Sri Krishna Balaniketan, (an orphanage for destitute children) Kukkikatte and administered oath taking to the students at the beginning of their academic year.

Dr Acharya, speaking at the occasion, said that there are ample opportunities for personality development.  Those who served with sacrifices both in the country and abroad are well respected.  The poor students will certainly get their due opportunities when they grow.  They too will adore higher positions in life.  Moreover, the students are expected to make the best use of their opportunities, in order to bring laurels to their educational institution and return the debt to the society.  The donors’ contributions to school would be better utilized. 


While speaking to the media persons, soon after the programme on the recent landslide in front of ancient Datta Peeta at Baba Budangiri, in Chikmagalur district, he said that he has been directed by CM B S Yeddyurapa to lead the delegation of ministers, Chikmagalur district-in-charge minister K S Eashwarappa, religious endowment minister Krishnayya Shetty and rural development minister Shobha Karandlaje, to view the damage and present the report to the government.  

Dr V S Acharya’s wife Shantha Acharya, Balaniketan teacher Y M Prabha, trustee Kamalaksha Prabhu, Keshavraya Prabhu, Subramanya Basri, Ramachandra Acharya and others were present at the occasion.

The trustees of Kadiyali Sri Krishna Balanikethan invoked the blessings by circling the ‘aarati.’

Dr Acharya savoured the lunch along with the school students.

    While wishing happy birthday to Dr.V.S.Acharya, I only wish his colleagues also celebrate their birthday in simple manner. Just last week two of his colleagues had obscene display of their birthday and pasted whole Bangalore with ugly cutouts and banners. Not content with that their followers burst crackers causing traffic jams.
