Vasundhara Raje govt makes singing anthem must in hostels

Jaipur, Nov 28 (TOI): To "evoke" nationalism in students, state department of social justice and empowerment (SJE) has issued a directive to all 789 hostels for OBC, SC and ST students under its aegis in Rajasthan to ensure that all inmates gather to sing the national anthem at 7am daily.

A statement released on Monday by the government said that while the national anthem is recited in all residential schools, the tradition will now have to be followed in hostels too. Incidentally, the directive was already effective from Sunday.

SJE principal secretary Samit Sharma, however, claimed that singing the national anthem was already part of the daily routine in hostels. "Hostel inmates gather for a daily prayer in the morning. The directive on national anthem was not being followed because of staff shortage. The directive has been issued to ensure national anthem is also sung on a daily basis," he said.

Explaining the reason for re-issuing the directive, Sharma said that due to the absence of wardens in some hostels and schools the practice was not being followed on a regular basis. "We have just asked the national anthem to be sung regularly like it is being done in any other school," said Sharma. The department has nearly 800 hostels across the state with 40,000 students.

It also has 22 residential schools. The directive came days after Jaipur mayor Ashok Lahoti made the singing of the national anthem and song compulsory at 9am and 5pm. Rajasthan Youth Board too had organised a 'Vande Mataram' event at SMS stadium on November 8.

The event was attended by chief minister Vasundhara Raje. In 2016, state education department had made 'surya namaskar' compulsory in schools. However, after it was challenged in court, the state made it optional.

Justice Misra was part of the bench passed the order for mandatory singing of the national anthem in cinema halls already made mockery of the highest court of India and even code of conduct.
Judge with a serious moral flaw become Chief Justice of India having land allotment case?
Justice Misra is currently presiding over a bench hearing the Cauvery and Krishna river water disputes, BCCI reforms and Sahara case among others.

In addition to CJI Misra's popcorn nationalism of cinema hall now Rajasthan BJP Chief Minister Raje added to the list.

If Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi wanted to sing 'national anthem' in madrasa, in BJP ruled Rajasthan wanted hostels imposed.

It should be noted a photo of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia speaking while the national anthem being played has gone viral on social media platforms.
The photo in question is from an event organised on 9 October 2017. From the banner in the photo, it appears to be a meeting of the BJP’s state level working committee.

BJP has always claimed to champion the cause of nationalism. The party had welcomed the mandatory standing during the national anthem in cinema halls by the Supreme Court.

Hindutva supporters had even bashed up people who refused to stand during the national anthem or asked them to go to Pakistan.

Unfortunately many of the media blackout the picture the truth remains forever.
Cinema halls, hostels where else our patriotism need to be proved for BJP in the future?

Introducing National Anthem at places which is not of importance is just making mockery of the song. Next we may have to sing the same at the public toilets before using it. Does Vasundhara Raje wake up at 7am.

We certainly don't need national anthem in hostels, pubs, bars, restaurants or movie theatres. But we should continue to stand for it, wherever they play.

We don't need to learn patriotism from corrupt politicians. We love our nation more than such politicians do.

1st it was schools.. then soon it entered theatres.. & now hostels..BJP has nothing to show on development.. creating jobs.. they've started losing everywhere.. barring couple of bhakts & usual tv channels there are no one who support this utterly fascist party.
so they are playing nationalist card & making kids who are easy target to sing anthem.there's no harm in singing but when it becomes political tool to hide BJP's massive failure it becomes cause concern
