Moodbidri Branch of MCC Bank Organizes Customers' Meet

Moodbidri, Jul 2: The cutomers meet of Mangalore Catholic Co-operative Bank Ltd, Moodbidri branch, was organized at Samajmandir hall here on Monday June 30.

The meet was formally inaugurated by MLA K Abhayachandra Jain. Speaking on the occasion, he called upon the people to extend full support to this 96-year-old bank, which has been the backbone of coastal economy, towards transforming it into the topmost bank of this region. I am sure the present board of directors of this Bank is capable to achieving this feat, he stated.

Vice-chairman of the Bank John Rodrigues presided over the meet.

In response to questions and suggestions that came up from the customers, Rodrigues said that the Bank had already reduced  rates of interest on loans and advances. "We have of late, started sanctioning loans within a day of receiving proposals. As such, people have been freed from the need to wait for long, to get their loans sanctioned," he explained.

NRI: Henry D’Souza and Hilda D’Souza of Hosabettu Moodbidri, presently staying in Dubai and on a vacation at present, attended the meet and made some enquires about the NRI deposits. The vice-chaiman informed them that the Bank is awaiting Reserve Bank of India (RBI) permission for accepting NRI deposits, which may be received shortly. Bank chairman Melvin D’Cunha has already taken up the issue with the RBI, Bangalore  and because of this pre-occupation, he has been unable to attend the meet, he informed.

General  manager of the Bank Clifford D’Souza, who was present, said that the bank is earning profit at present. But the Bank is required to set off profits aginst accumulated losses from earlier years, he added. He also expressed the confidence that the Bank would be able to declare dividend for the shareholders of the Bank during the next year.

One of the directors Raymond D’Cunha welcomed the gathering and manager of the Moodbidri branch of the Bank proposed vote of thanks. Directors Adolphus Avitus Cutinho, Jacintha Boromeo and Valerian Rodrigues were present on the dais.

Employees of MCC Bank Moodbidri branch, accountant Lancy Lobo, junior assistant Joseph Felix D’Souza, attender Praveen Dolphy D'Souza  and staff members Joyce Pereira and Renita Flavia Pereira were actively associated holding the meet.
