Udupi, Jun 27: Five persons sustained grievous injuries after a truck loaded with fertilisers was involved in a head-on colision with a speeding ore-laden truck in front of Karkada school near Saligrama on Friday June 27 morning. The traffic on the road came to a standstill for about six hours owing to the incident.

Two people travelling in the ore truck and three from the fertiliser lorry were seriously injured. The condition of two of the injured is critical.

The accident took place at about 2 am. By eight, vehicles had lined up for several kilometres on both sides, as the two trucks had blocked the road. The policemen from Kota police station, with the help of locals, arranged for removing the trucks later, paving way for resumption of traffic on the highway.
