Mangalore: Excise Police Seize Hooch, Toddy - Culprit Escapes

Mangalore, Jun 25: The excise policemen raided an illegal brewery engaged in making illicit liquor from the banks of Gurpur river in Kerambadi near Marakada and confiscated five litres of hooch.

Eurice D'souza (47) from Bavalikudru of Kenjar village, who was identified to be the bootlegger, escaped during the raid by jumping into the river.

In the meanwhile, excise officials from Bantwal raided a house in Bantwal and seized large quantity of illegally stored toddy and liquor besides arresting one person. Nagesh Poojary from Nandagokul Alake in Siddakatte was the arrested person.

Bantwal zone excise inspector Somshekhar led the raid.
