Mangalore: People of Mangalore Feasting on Chennai Fishes

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jun 25: After the fishing ban was imposed in the coastal region of Karnataka, the fish markets here are flooded with fish from other places, particularly Chennai, from where a good chunk of the fishes coming in are mackerel and sardine.

Hence, bigger fishes continue to be in great demand. In the last few days of the fishing season too, catches of bigger fish had been scarce, jacking up their rates. The situation is expected to improve after the ban on fishing comes to an end. People were unable to buy costly fishes like prawns because of their high prices. Now, even the prices of mackerel and sardines have gone up substantially and hotels too have revised prices of fish items.
