Karkala: Man Tries to End Life in Court Premises

Karkala, Jun 24: The Court building here witnessed an attempt made by a person to commit suicide by consuming poison in its premises on Monday June 23.

Babu (38) from Hebri had been to the Court in connection with a family dispute. It is learnt, that he resorted to this extreme step, overtaken by emotions. He was immediately shifted to a hospital here and then taken to Mangalore for advanced treatment.

He was having a long dispute with his father over property. Despite several court hearings, the case had not been settled.  Sources said that depressed by this and irked by his father's attitude, Babu tried to end his life in court premises.

A case has been registered in the town police station in this regard.

    It is no wonder that litigants get frustrated in court matters. For one small matter, the court takes between 10 years to 15 years. I think judiciary should put their mind into this aspect and find a solution so that atleast very normal cases gets settled fast.

     I am myself experiencing the inconvenience in a property case filed in kundapura court which is now 15 years old [tenant eviction]. Just imagine, the property is ours, and the tenant is not vacating and the courts takes nearly 15 years to dispense justice.
