Bangalore: Muthappa Rai Moves Court for Passport

The Hindu

Bangalore, June 24: N. Mutthapa Rai on Monday petitioned the Karnataka High Court against the refusal of the Regional Passport Officer, Bangalore, to issue a passport to him.

Rai said he needed the passport to go on a pilgrimage to Kailash and Manasarovar. Since his passport had expired in 1995, he applied for a new passport on October 11, 2006.

Counsel for the Union Government informed the court that Rai’s application was rejected as there was no police clearance.

Justice N. Kumar disposed of the petition.
